Bio
Ewell Vernon serves as the athletic trainer at Surry. Vernon, a 1995 graduate of Carroll County High School has been the Knights athletic trainer for the past nine years. Vernon graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and earned a Masters Degree in Health Science from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He holds Athletic Training Certifications from NATA Board of Certification along with being a Virginia Board of Medicine Licensed Athletic Trainer and North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners Licensed Athletic Trainer. In addition, he holds certification as a FMT Movement and Mobility Specialist.
Vernon is the founder of Impact Wellness Solutions, the former Executive Director at Northern Wellness and Fitness, and former Director of Athletics and Sports Medicine Services at Bluefield College. Vernon served as the head athletic trainer at Pikeville College. Vernon was involved in work for the Lord while he served as head athletic trainer at Pikeville College in Kentucky, and he also served on the staff of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for Eastern Kentucky. While serving as Athletic Trainer at Carroll County High School, he earned the Gold Star Teacher Award in 2019 and 2021 along with being a Teacher of the Year nominee in 2020.
Vernon served two years on the Surry County Opioid Response Initiative along with serving in the Surry County Ministerial Association. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outside, working in his garden pond, and helping others. Vernon currently serves as pastor of Mountain View Baptist Church and resides in Cana, Virginia with his wife Melissa and their three children.
