
Elijah Palmer Earns ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award
Greensboro, NC – Surry's Elijah Palmer was recently awarded the American Baseball Coaches /Rawlings Gold Glove award for National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III baseball in 2025. This highly coveted honor recognizes the nation's top collegiate defensive players among all divisions of college baseball.
Palmer, a standout centerfielder at Surry, earned the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove for his flawless fielding performance throughout the season, boasting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He totaled 108 putouts and recorded four assists on the season including throwing out a runner at the plate in the NJCAA Division III World Series opening game as Surry defeated Brookdale, 12-2.
Named a NJCAA Division III Second Team All-American, Palmer was also honored as the Region 10 Player of the Year and selected to the Region 10 All-Defensive Team. He helped lead Surry to the Region 10 Championship along with the Mid-Atlantic Championship as the Knights earned a trip to the NJCAA Division III World Series in Auburn, New York, Surry finished 5th in the World Series and posted a 37-14 overall record.
Palmer becomes the latest Surry player to earn the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award following Bryson Bebber (2022) and Ethan Danley (2019). Palmer is the first ever baseball player from Surry to earn both All-American honors and be recognized as an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove recipient in the same season.
Palmer, a St. Bonaventure University signee recently graduated from Surry with an Associate in Arts degree posting a 3.71 grade point average.
The Gold Glove Awards are presented annually by Rawlings and selected by the ABCA. These prestigious awards are chosen by the ABCA All-America Committee. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners have been selected since 2007 in the collegiate ranks and have featured many future Major League Baseball players.
